LED Racetrack lighting for the first Formula E night race double-header in Japan

The FIA Formula E World Championship raced into the Japanese night for the first time, and DZE Asia designed and installed the track lighting system that made it possible. Around the Tokyo Big Sight convention centre, on the Tokyo Bay waterfront, our team equipped 178 structural pylons with 643 LED floodlights, for a total installed power of 861,620 W, supported by 5,686 metres of aluminium truss structure and 42,500 metres of electrical cable.

The entire system was assembled in record time, in one of the most demanding environments on the international racing calendar: a region where earthquake and typhoon risk turns every temporary installation into an engineering challenge.

The result is two consecutive nights of racing under the lights, with uniform illumination along the whole circuit, in compliance with FIA standards and with the requirements of high-definition television broadcasting.
